Theme: “Strengthening Security and Cooperation for Peace and Development in the Niger Delta Region “

The planning Committee writes to inform all invited dignitaries, Stakeholders and the General Public that the Year 2010 annual retreat being planned by the Forum, initially scheduled to hold from 19th to 22nd July, 2010 at the Conference Hall, Le Meridien Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, Nwaniba road, Uyo- Akwa Ibom state has been postponed

The overall objective of the retreat is to harmonise resources towards developing an enduring framework/roadmap for peace, security, stability and development of the traditional communities within the Niger Delta region.

In preparation for this signature event, the Planning Committee has had very fruitful inputs from diverse stakeholders, Opinion Leaders, Chief Executives and Representatives of International and Indigenous Oil and Gas Companies operating in the region.

Sub themes:

Traditional Institutions, Community Mobilization and the Amnesty programme
Traditional Institutions, Security, Conflict Mediation and Resolution
Traditional Institutions and Intra/Inter Communal Security
Traditional Rulers as gate keepers for ensuring peace and stability in the period before, during and after the 2011 General Elections.

The Planning Committee regret’s all inconveniencies this shift in dates has caused our invited dignitaries, Special Guest and every stakeholder.

How the Body Works

The Heart is a strong muscle that works like a pump. It pumps blood through your blood vessels to all parts of your body. The blood contains vital oxygen and other nutrients. If a blood vessel gets blocked, the blood cannot move through it to where it needs to go. When a blood vessel around the heart gets blocked, it can cause a heart attack or other heart diseases. When a blood vessel in the brain gets blocked, it can cause a stroke.

What are Heart diseases?

There are many forms of heart disease. Each one is a medical condition in which different things happen, such as in:

Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)- The heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs.

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)- Fat (cholesterol) builds up on the walls inside a blood vessel supplying blood to the heart, and the blood cannot flow through it easily.

Angina or angina pectoris- The heart is not getting enough oxygen, which causes chest pain or pressure for a short while

With these famous words President Abraham Lincoln began his Gettysburg Address on November 19, 1863. It was arguable one of the most famous and eloquent speeches of all time, and one on which the American nation, embroiled in civil war, could anchor their hopes.

They needed to be assured and affirmed. They needed strong words from a strong man that offered them hope in the midst of tragedy.

Anchors - we all need them. Firm rocks sunk deeply in a solid foundation. Ironclad undeniables that we can cling on to when the storms of life threaten to engulf us and pull us out to sea.

Listen to this anchor. "The Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost." These great words written in Luke's gospel 2000 years ago give us hope. When we feel lost in the fierce gales that this life can hurl at us, we need only to remember that there is One who is seeking us. He will never change. He will never stop seeking. He will never stop loving.

Chances are that you are reading these words and are about to get caught in a storm. The weather is brewing and the water is rising and you can see the trees beginning to bend. Perhaps the winds have reached gale force and you are holding on for your life.

The Anchor is still holding - seeking the boat that is tossed on the surface of the sea. He beckons you to harbor in His safe waters. Sound interesting?

Prayer

Our God and Father, hallowed be your name. We are thankful that out of your deep love for us , you offer us hope of eternal life with you. The world around us is filled with uncertainty and fear. We need this anchor to hold us. Help us turn loose of these earthly anchors that can not sustain and reach out to your son, Jesus Christ. In HIS name we pray. Amen

Nigeria Producer of High quality crude, happens to be the greatest importer of petroleum products.
What a shame, we have people that are well read in these ministries that are responsible for the countries business and the best they can do is to import petroleum products because they do not know what to do with crude and will not go to the economist to learn about production principles.
What I would have expected of the government was to have developed refineries, if those we have are not enough they could have built more and refine our crude here and sell the various products to the people we are buying from. Lets assume we do not have the technical know-how, then we could have employed some experts to come teach us how to do fractional distilation of crude. But I know and most other people know our government is too wise to be that foolish that they do not know we as a country will make more money if we do the separation of by products of crude here; they preffered imports because they make pennies out of the deal, when we can make much more....GREED of a few persons.........

If we look arround our environment, we only see poverty, suffering of a larger part of the population in the Niger Delta.The sorry thing is not that we do not have money,but it is that illitrates has taken over the affairs of governance.They may have gone to Universities, but school never go through them so they can never make good dicisions.
No plans for the citizenry, they have forgotten their primary duties of providing basic ameneties like: Good road,good drinking water, good transport system, stable and usable electricity, housing(low cost). If our government were to be responsible, the people of the Niger Delta would not worry about FOOD.
